Space Monkeys and EA have put great work into this racing simulator and it’s the first free to download game in the Real Racing series. The attention to detail put into Real Racing 3 is truly outstanding from how the cars leave skid marks on the tracks, to hearing the sound of the cars driving across the rumble strips and being able to see your opponents in the rear view mirror while driving on cockpit view, Real Racing 3 gives you that Gran Turismo feel right in the palm of your hands. The game features a decent roaster of cars from 12 manufacturers and you can purchase using in game currency, from the humble Ford Focus to supercars like the Bugatti Veyron. Just like in most racing simulators, the cars in Real Racing 3 take damage during a race and require constant service after a couple a races. The more upgrades you add to the car, the more frequent you’ll need to service the car. You start off the game with one car and servicing your car will require you to take a break from playing the game and this gets a bit frustrating at the beginning. As you progress in the game and buy more cars you’ll be able to service one of your cars while you use the others to race, provided that you’ve hired more than one mechanic to do the job.

Real Racing 3 has a really smart Artificial Intelligence that lets you race against other players from around the world. The cars you play against in the game are actually your Facebook friends or other Real Racing 3 players who raced the same event as you a couple of weeks ago and its your turn to try and beat them. The same principle applies to them as they try and beat the time you’ve set during a particular race. It’s the same AI system that we see in modern day racing simulators like Forza Motorsport 6 and Driveclub. The games controls are easy to understand as Real Racing requires you turn your phone to the left or right in order to steer and a simple touch of the screen allows you to use the brakes. The game also gives you the option to choose between the game 7 control methods, to see which one works for you and you can also turn off the driver assists if you feel that you can handle the cars without them.

Real Racing 3 is available for free in the Google Playstore and in the App store, it features in-app purchases that are targeted for those of you who can’t wait for cars to be delivered to your garage or your upgrades to in the allocated time. In order to speed up these processes you’ll need to spend the gold coins you’ve accumulated in the game by completing challenges and levelling up your driver profile. If you run out of gold coins, you can use your own cash to buy them. I’ve played this game for more than 10 hours and I haven’t used my own cash so far, waiting for my upgrades to complete in the beginning was a bit frustrating but once I owned more than more car, I managed to clock more game time. Real Racing 3 gets a 9/10 from me.
